We post news about AI advancements on a regular basis on this blog, but how can we resist when so many companies are exploring the power of this field? The latest company to fully invest in the trend towards AI-powered technology is Intel. In late March, they announced the formation of the Intel Artificial Intelligence Products Group (AIPG), an organization that intends to consolidate the company’s AI efforts across all its divisions.
This move towards unifying AI projects isn’t simply a pivot
towards the future; Intel has invested heavily in AI development. Over the past
two years, Intel has acquired an AI-processor
startup, a
computer-vision developer, a
driverless car developer, and an
FPGA manufacturer. Each of these acquisitions either gives Intel an entry
point to specific AI development targets or provides a technology to support AI
development.
AI is one of the leading trends in modern software development,
with far-reaching applications in many domains. It holds the potential to
revolutionize the way we interact with technology, but it is also difficult to
fully comprehend and master, even
for those at the forefront of the field. Intel is simply taking the initial
steps to become a major player in AI. If AI development is something that you
or your company wishes to look into, how will you start? Perhaps you’ll read Machine Learning Using C# Succinctly
to get a sense of the broad ideas at the base of much AI research. However you do it, AI has the potential to
reshape software far beyond what we can easily imagine today. If you are
working on an AI project and would like to share what you’re doing, let us know
